“The Symbol and Freedom” is a documentary film about the decommunization of the “Mother Motherland” sculpture in Kyiv. “Mother Motherland” is the tallest monumental sculpture in Europe, its height is 102 meters, it was built in 1979-1981. In July-August 2023, the Soviet coat of arms on her shield was replaced with a trident, or tryzub — the Small State Emblem of Ukraine. The authors of the film show the hard work of architects, builders, welders, industrial climbers, who worked even during air raids.
