Carpathian Furriery. Part One

Processing the skin of wild, and subsequently domestic animals, is one of the most ancient processes in the activities of primitive people. Furriery is a trade engaged in the dressing of sheepskins and the production of different types of clothing, such as keptars, fur coats, and fur hats. Furriery existed throughout Ukraine. Furrier's products, especially keptars, are most widespread in western Ukraine. The authors of the project explore the history and traditions of furriers in the Carpathians. Each mountain village had its own ornaments, colors, and decoration of keptars.
