For the Hutsuls, wood was an available material, since ancient times they learned how to skillfully process it. The inhabitants of the Carpathians knew very well all kinds of wood. Which wood is better to build, which is suitable for carpentry, cooperage or turning, which wood is better to use for carving. The combination of different types of wood, leather, and metal are very distinctive products of Hutsul craftsmen. Icons, plates, caskets, crosses, candlesticks, glasses, flasks, panels, frames, furniture - there are no limits to the carver's imagination. What story does each piece of art hide? What inspires the master? Where does the idea come from? The authors of the project will try to reveal the secrets of Hutsul region carvers.
