“Malanka: amazing traditions of Ukraine” is the sixth episode of Dmytro Komarov’s project “The World Inside Out. Ukraine". Malanka is one of those ancient holidays that has been preserved since pre-Christian times. It is celebrated in different parts of Ukraine, but it was in the village of Vashkivtsi, Chernivtsi region, that it turned into one of the largest ethnic festivals in Eastern Europe. Ukrainians continue to celebrate winter holidays even in regions that suffered from shelling by Russian troops. Dmytro Komarov and his team visited Saltivka, the most destroyed district of Kharkiv.
