The Real History of the Executed Renaissance

"The Real History of the Executed Renaissance" is a documentary film from the "The Real History" series. The archives of the Security Service of Ukraine contain cases that totalitarian Stalinist regime filed against the intelligentsia. The term “Executed Renaissance” refers to the literary and artistic generation of the 20s – early 30s, which worked in the fields of literature, painting, theater, music, cinema and was executed during the Great Terror. The host of the program, Akim Halimov, studies archival documents to understand how the mechanism for exterminating the talented Ukrainian elite worked.
