Ukrainian Palaces. Golden Age. Palace in Sharivka

"Palace in Sharivka" is a documentary film from the series "Ukrainian Palaces. Golden Age". The host of the program, Akim Halimov, came to Kharkiv region. Once upon a time, the small village of Sharivka belonged to the Olhovsky landlords. At the end of the 19th century, they built a neo-Gothic style palace here. In 1881, the German-born sugar magnate Leopold Koenig (1821-1903) bought this building. Once he studied to be an architect and began active reconstruction, which lasted 9 years. This is how the "Pearl of Sharivka" appeared: a huge palace complex, garages, stables, servants’ houses, water pumping stations, a billiard room, greenhouses, and a pheasant house. Around there was a royal park and ponds with swans.
